Michael J. Willis is Mohamed VI Fellow in Moroccan and Mediterranean Studies at St Antony's College, Oxford University. Prior to joining Oxford he taught political science at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco from 1997 until 2004. His research has focused on the politics, modern history and international relations of the Maghreb and he is the author of The Islamist Challenge in Algeria: A Political History (New York University Press 1997) as well as of a series of articles on the Islamist movement in Morocco. He is currently writing a book on the comparative politics of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco to be published by Columbia University Press.
